NALMA

The National Aboriginal Lands Managers Association (NALMA) is a national, First Nation-led, non-political organization that supports First Nation land managers through capacity building, professional development, and technical support.

ARALA is a proud member of the NALMA and serves as the Regional Lands Association (RLA) for Atlantic Canada.

As one of eight Regional Lands Associations across Canada, ARALA supports NALMA in its mission to actively strengthen professional development, technical expertise, and peer networking in the field of First Nation land management. Through this role, ARALA ensures that the perspectives, priorities, and experiences of Atlantic First Nations are represented at the national level.

NALMA defines Regional Lands Associations as independent regional or territorial associations established by Lands Managers and formally recognized by NALMA. Each RLA is governed by its own leadership, and together, the Directors from each RLA form the corporate body of NALMA. This governance model ensures that regional voices remain central to national discussions, decision-making, and advocacy related to First Nation lands management.

ARALA is proud to support Indigenous Lands Management, along with the following RLAs:

  • Planning and Land Administrators of Nunavut (PLAN)

Together, these RLAs form the foundation of NALMA’s national network, working collaboratively to strengthen First Nation land management practices across Canada.
